This Week (Okay, More Like Three Weeks): A Story in Photos

Happy December, everyone! As usual I am caught up in the whirlwind of life during St. Charles Christmas Traditions, but I wanted to check in and share some fun photos from the past few weeks. Hope you’re having a great Christmas season!

First of all, a bit overdue: my Halloween costume as a Beatnik (yes, that is a paper cigarette).

Zach and Pirate Buffy having some quality time.
My friend Amy chilling with Fluffy Buffy.
Zach teaching his brother how to skip rocks in the Missouri River.

And then a few shots of my favorite river.

10 Photos of Mirrors and Reflections

I have a fascination with mirrors and reflections— I love the strange perspectives they give to reality. As a kid, one of my favorite road trip activities was staring at the rearview mirror while watching the reflections in the windows in my peripheral vision. If I did it too long, I got dizzy, but I would stare as long as I could. Now that I’m grown up, I still do that. And sometimes I take pictures, too. Sometimes multiple pictures of the same reflection. Don’t judge me. Mirrors are cool.

Library, Seattle, Washington. It's a whole building made out of mirrors!

A tiny town whose name I cannot remember, Germany.

Same mirror from a different angle.

St. Elisabeth's Church, Nuremberg, Germany.

Building on the side of the highway, St. Peters, Missouri.

10 Photos of Roads, Streets, and Courtyards

Whenever I travel, random things catch my eye. Although I’m usually looking up (insert tall joke here), I love to look down and notice things on the ground, from pretty manhole covers to puddles that reflect the sky. Sometimes I take pictures of them— and try to be sneaky about it, because that puts a giant neon “tourist” sign over my head. “Oh look, Winifred, the tourists are out again… taking pictures of the ground.”

It’s okay. The ground can be pretty interesting.
