A Victorian Lit Fanart Round-Up, Part XI

Jonathan on his way to Castle Dracula, trying to figure out why the locals keep loading him down with wild rose, mountain ash, garlic blossoms, and crucifixes! (The locals try so hard to keep him safe from Dracula— it's really heartwarming.)

I tried out a couple more colored pencil drawings, illustrating Jonathan Harker and Lucy Westenra of Dracula, who have a lot of parallels with each other in the story, down to ending up ensconced in vampire-repellent flowers (Jonathan in life, Lucy in death). Once again, colored pencils are tricky to work with because you can't erase any lines, but it was fun to illustrate the flowers, especially trying to convey the white/cream color of the mountain ash (which I think I accomplished better in Jonathan's portrait than Lucy's). It was a fun challenge!

(See others in the series here.)

Lucy Westenra on her death bed (spoilers!), with a crucifix and vampire-repellent flowers making an attempt to keep her from rising again as an undead creature.

Bonus: Arthur Holmwood, who just got introduced in this week's Dracula Daily! He is such a sweet boy and one of my favorite characters, even though his role is smaller than others in the story.
