How I Made a Wreath

This week I made a wreath for our front door! It was a fun process. The design was loosely based on a macrame pattern from the book "Nature Macrame" by Rachel Brueklander, with my own twist.

I started with the rim of an old barrel we had scavenged from someone's garbage— the barrel part had rotted away and this had just been sitting around, but it was a good size.

I knotted on a bunch of yarn (and white macrame cord).

Then I crossed the two halves of the thread and knotted them onto the frame.

I didn't like the way the white thread looked, so I removed it. I also decided the wreath would look more cohesive if I wrapped the frame in yarn.

Almost done!

I arranged the dried-out tops of bee balm in the wreath— I think they look pretty cool. I was happy with how it turned out!
