It’s time to hit the road again! After almost five months of being at home, today I’m packing up two backpacks and getting ready to pile into a car with three of my best friends: my siblings Mary and Christian, and our long-time friend (and Mary’s boyfriend) Ryan. As often happens on my trips, I’m not feeling the best today: one of my wisdom teeth is coming in, which has swollen up the side of my mouth down my throat. Still, I’m excited to be hitting the trail in a few hours. We’re first going to visit my grandparents in Indiana, and then tomorrow we set out in earnest, ending up on the outer banks of North Carolina. The sun is out, the sky is sharp, the air is brisk, and it’s the perfect day to begin a road trip.
